20 Nov Thank you Web Summit 2023!
Web Summit is Europe’s largest technology exhibition and conference. Held in Lisbon every year, Web Summit has become a crossroads for innovative companies of all types and in all sectors. So it was only fitting that GR1T took part this year.
We were accepted into the Web Summit ALPHA programme, designed for early stage startups to maximize their experience from the event. This gave us a very valuable guide through the complexity of the event, which includes day and night programmes spread out through the city of Lisbon.
The highlight for GR1T was our inclusion into a very diverse set of mobility and cleantech startups. As an electric motorcycle producer, we fall into the intersection of carbon-free mobility solutions, in particular for urban mobility, and “clean-tech”, given our focus on battery research, increasing battery range, power-weight considerations and more.
We were able to exhibit on Wednesday, 15 November, and also pitch with a cohort of other startups in the same space.
Web Summit arranged a mentoring session with the founder of a hydrogen technology startup and specialist, which in turn provides us with a potential new dimension for our powertrain.
Most importantly, we were able to meet some of the leading automotive / mobility funds in our sector and engage in some very serious discussions about investment financing and growth. We also met a number of business angels that we will be following up with.
And finally, we were interviewed by a number of press agencies, which will raise our international profile.
One key takeaway from the event was our digital strategy. It confirmed the importance of our digital sensoring and integration within the GR1T Pioneer Pro and Pioneer Street models and the online community we are building.
Coming as this did following our official launch at EICMA in Milan, we were both a little bit fatigued but also exhilarated to be at such a large event. This year, Web Summit had:
· Over 70,000 participants
· Over 1,000 investors
· Over 1,000 startups exhibiting
· Over 400 journalists
We are now busy following up this event and look forward to Web Summit 2024!
