Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Philip is a consultant and investment advisor who has been working in the tech and startup space since 1993. He specializes in financial analysis, company valuation, financial modelling, business planning and fundraising. For GR1T, he will be acting as Interim CFO the end of 2024, before turning over the regular position to a German hire as well as a German Chief Accountant.

 

Philip studied at Princeton University, Cornell University, Oxford University, Said Business School, and the University of Barcelona.

 

He began his career with Kienbaum and Partner in New York and Dusseldorf in 1992, working on large-scale strategic organisational development projects. In September 1995, he co-founded Navigator Consulting Group with two partners. Since then, he has implemented over 400 projects in 45 countries, with projects over € 6.5 billion in invested resources completed.

 

Since 2010, Philip has led the Navigator Entrepreneurship Charter, a commitment to support 1 start-up or social entrepreneur between 2010 and 2030. In this capacity, Philip acts as an early-stage angel investor and business mentor. Investments in 10 start-ups have been made, with capital amounts between € 10,000 – 250,000.

 

Philip has also acted as a consultant for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Ukraine and other countries.

He is a consultant for the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), where he co-developed and continues to advise the Deep Tech Talent Initiative, a commitment to upskill 1 million experts in Deep Tech between 2023-2025. https://www.eitdeeptechtalent.eu

 

Philip is also currently advising the EIT on financial sustainability of the 9 Knowledge and Innovation Centres (KICs), each of which is receiving € 700-800 million in grants over their 15-year First Phase. Philip also advises the European Innovation Council (EIC), the European SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA), and the European Commission’s Horizon Programme.

 

In Spring 2019, Philip was Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the University of Cyprus, Centre for Entrepreneurship. Philip also sponsors and supports the Cyprus Entrepreneurship Competition. https://cyec.org.cy

 

Philip is a voluntary mentor at the SAP Startup Factory in Yerevan, Armenia and at the Microsoft for Startups Programme at the European University of Cyprus.
